Best League Two Programme 2014-15

Winner – Plymouth Argyle

‘The Pilgrim’ has innovation and imagination in many of its features, such as ‘All roads lead to Home Park’, which links street names of the city with former players. The visitors section starts wonderfully with a page surrounded by past programme covers from their matches against Plymouth. On the six pages that follow there is some excellent preview writing. ‘Come on you greens’ looks at other sides around the world that share the Pligrims’ colours. ‘A Quick Word With…’ is a catch up page with a past star. The main player feature is a six pager around a centre page poster with several Q&A format sections. The retro section begins with ‘Ruby Boys’ recalling the 1974-75 Third Division title winning season, before moving on to the standout feature. The club chaplain gets a column, as does the Argyle fanzine editor and on the penultimate pages, John Harbin. ‘Miles & Miles & Miles to follow the yellows’ is a good page on a recent away trip. Throughout the programme is visually very strong. Overall a thoroughly good mix of articles, wonderfully presented.

B5, £3, standout article/feature – ‘Pass Back’: Double page spread of 20 home and away programme covers tied to a particular theme.
